Most famously the theme tune of Disney, one of the greatest motion picture companies the world has known, this number won the 1940 Academy Award for ‘Best Original Song’, sung by Cliff Edwards (as ‘Jiminy Cricket’) in Walt Disney’s adaption of Pinocchio that same year. Written by Leigh Harline and Ned Washington, the song was massively successful and its lasting appeal has led to many cover versions, including that of The Beach Boys, Billy Joel and Family Guy.
