about

Blackbird is a hugely successful song from The Beatles’ ‘White’ album, written by Paul McCartney while on his farm in Scotland and originally inspired by J. S. Bach’s Bourrée in E minor, which he and George Harrison used to play as children.
The topic is that of civil rights in 1960s America and of the fight for equality between races, with one woman here represented symbolically by a blackbird whose wings have been broken. The original is credited to Lennon/McCartney and known to all, but this arrangement is quite a different and special creation, we feel.

lyrics

Blackbird singing in the dead of night,
Take these broken wings and learn to fly.
All your life, you were only waiting for this moment to arise.
Blackbird singing in the dead of night,
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see.
All your life, you were only waiting for this moment to be free.
Blackbird, fly into the light of the dark black night.
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.
